Dimethyl ether, DME, is a clean and environmentally friendly fuel that can be used as an alternative energy source and as an important chemical product.
SWCHEM’s methanol-to-DME technology is based on gas-phase catalytic dehydration of methanol. SWCHEM was designated by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China to undertake the national scientific and technological project for a 1 million metric tons per year methanol-to-DME plant.
The R&D work for methanol-to-DME technology has been granted three Chinese invention patents. More than 80 DME plants using SWCHEM technology have been successfully built, giving SWCHEM a leading market position in China.
SWCHEM’s methanol-to-DME technology has reached an internationally advanced level and has been widely proven in industrial operation.
SWCHEM adopts a patented multi-section quench fixed-bed reactor, featuring:
SWCHEM’s patented stripping configuration and separation process help simplify the overall process and improve operating efficiency.
When integrated with a methanol production unit, crude methanol can be used directly as feedstock for DME synthesis, significantly reducing production cost and improving overall project economics.
