CO Purification Technology Overview

SWCHEM’s CO purification technology is used to produce high-purity CO from CO-containing industrial gas mixtures using a new dedicated CO adsorbent.

The feed gas enters the PSA unit, where impurities such as H₂, N₂ and CH₄ are separated. CO is selectively adsorbed and then recovered as product gas through vacuum desorption.

This technology is suitable for CO purification from water gas, semi-water gas, gasifier gas, blast furnace gas, converter gas and other CO-containing industrial gas streams.

The feed gas is introduced into the PSA unit. Impurities such as H₂, N₂, CH₄ and other components are separated from the gas mixture, while CO is selectively adsorbed by the adsorbent.

During vacuum desorption, the adsorbed CO is released from the adsorbent and recovered as product gas. Through the cyclic operation of multiple adsorbers, the system enables continuous CO purification and recovery.

Feed gas

Applicable feed gases include:

  • Water gas, semi-water gas, regeneration gas from copper liquor washing and gasifier gas
  • Blast furnace gas, converter gas, yellow phosphorus tail gas and carbon black tail gas
  • Other CO-containing gas streams

Control Mode and Features:

Control Mode

The purification units are controlled by dedicated controllers and instruments. Depending on the unit scale, automation level and customer control requirements, a DCS control system consistent with the customer’s main plant may be used, or a standalone PLC control system may be selected.

Control Features

In addition to conventional PSA sequence control, loop control and other control functions, SWCHEM also provides specialized control strategies for fully automatic load adjustment, fault diagnosis and fault isolation.

The system can support adaptive optimization, self-diagnosis and fault isolation, improving operational flexibility and helping ensure long-term, stable and safe operation of the unit.
